Tour description

Welcome to a journey that will take you to a galaxy far, far away... well, not quite, but to the epic filming locations of the Star Wars movie franchise, which are scattered across the charming and culturally rich country of Tunisia.

On this tour, you'll get to experience firsthand the unique blend of Berber, Arab, and Mediterranean cultures and marvel at the stunning Islamic architecture that inspired the creators of the Star Wars universe. Starting in the ancient city of Tunis, you'll head south to Kairouan, the fourth holiest city in Islam, where you'll visit the great mosque, the Barber's Mausoleum, and the Aghlabid Basins, which are the best examples of Islamic architecture in Tunisia.

Next, you'll explore the oasis town of Tozeur, surrounded by palm groves and salt lakes, and home to a well-preserved medina that's over a thousand years old. From there, you'll journey by 4x4 to the majestic waterfalls of Chebika and Tamerza, and through the awe-inspiring Mides Canyons, where you'll find the Sidi Bouhlel Canyon that was featured in several scenes of the Star Wars movies. The adventure continues as you visit the iconic Mos Espa Village, the site of the Pod-racing arena and Sebulba's Cafe in Episode I. Here, you'll see the Yardangs, where the Jedi fight between Qui-Gonn and Darth Maul was filmed, and learn about the making of Star Wars in Tunisia.

As the tour progresses, you'll head deeper into the Sahara desert, exploring the Berber troglodyte villages of Chenini and Douiret, and seeing the ksar citadel that overlooks Chenini. You'll visit the historic mosque in Sidi Jmour, which was used for exterior shots of Obi-Wan Kenobi's home during his exile, and the Cantina in Ajim, where the Millennium Falcon blasted off from Mos Eisley.

Finally, the tour takes you to the picturesque island of Djerba, known for its whitewashed houses and golden beaches. You'll visit the El Ghriba Synagogue, the oldest in Tunisia and a site of pilgrimage for Jewish people, and see the stunning Roman Amphitheatre in El Jem, one of the most impressive Roman remains in Africa.

Throughout the tour, you'll have the opportunity to sample delicious local cuisine, meet friendly Tunisians, and immerse yourself in the history and culture of this fascinating country. Whether you're a Star Wars fan or simply curious about the ancient and modern wonders of Tunisia, this tour promises to be a journey you'll never forget.
